The Art of Mollie McElvain

Hello! I’m Mollie McElvain, a storyboard artist living in Los Angeles with my rabbits, Parmesan & Gorgonzola, and a box set of Marx Brothers movies.

I’ve had the pleasure of writing and boarding shorts for the hilarious Jellystone! and the action-packed Batwheels at Warner Bros. Animation. I did story revisions for both shows, as well as on Netflix’s Sonic Prime at WildBrain Studios.

2024 has seen me direct my first art installation, telling a story in a space people can step into in A Tea Party for Extinct Birds at the 826LA Time Travel Mart. It received recognition by the LA Times in their July 2024 article “The 22 Best Spots to Nerd Out In LA”.

Prior to boarding, I worked as a CG previsualization artist, doing the first pass at translating storyboards into 3D animation. My experience in this has given me unique insight into what creates the most helpful template possible for animators when boarding on CG shows. Projects I worked on include Warner Bros.’ Space Jam: A New Legacy, HBO’s upcoming Sesame Street film, Disney+’s Flora and Ulysses, and advertisements for the Oculus Quest.

In my down time I’ve been developing a webcartoon called Tode and Fraug, a story of two amphibian friends inspired by the Arnold Lobel books I loved as a child, combined with my current love for the comedy of Mitch Hedberg. When I'm not animating I crochet, play video games, and go to heavy metal concerts.

You can reach me by email at molliemcelvain@gmail.com and I’ll get back to you ASAP! Have a good day!
